Sermon: Trusting God’s Word for Your MiracleText: Luke 1:13 (KJV)“But the angel of the Lord said unto him; Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elizabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.”---Introduction: The Condition and the WordWe all face conditions in life that seem permanent—long-standing struggles, unanswered prayers, delayed promises. For Zacharias and Elizabeth, their condition was not just a personal disappointment but a cultural shame: they were childless, aged, and had prayed for years with no answer. Yet, in one divine moment, everything changed. Not because their circumstances changed first, but because God’s word came.Today, I want to show you that no matter how long you’ve been in that condition—whether it’s a health issue, a financial struggle, a broken relationship, or a dream deferred—God’s word carries what it takes to end it. When God speaks, your story changes.---1. The Condition Does Not Cancel God’s PromiseZacharias and Elizabeth were “well stricken in years” (Luke 1:7). Biologically, hope was gone. Yet the angel said, “Thy prayer is heard.” Notice: God didn’t say, “I’m just now considering it.” He said, “It is heard.” Your past prayers are not forgotten. God’s timing is not our timing, but His word arrives right on time.Biblical example: Abraham and Sarah. At 100 and 90 years old, God’s promise came true (Genesis 21:1–3). Romans 4:19–21 says Abraham “staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief… being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.” The condition of their bodies did not cancel God’s promise.Hebrews 6:12 – “That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”---2. God’s Word Carries Creative PowerThe angel didn’t just give sympathy; he delivered a specific word: “Elizabeth shall bear thee a son… thou shalt call his name John.” That word contained the miracle. In fact, the miracle was already inside the word. When God speaks, things that are not become as though they were.Biblical example: Creation. “God said, Let there be light: and there was light” (Genesis 1:3). God’s word is creative.Isaiah 55:11 – “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”God’s word is not just information; it is transformation. It carries life, healing, deliverance, and breakthrough. When you receive His word, you receive your miracle.---3. Receiving His Word is Receiving Your MiracleHow do we receive God’s word? By faith. Zacharias initially doubted because of his circumstances (Luke 1:18), and was struck mute until the word was fulfilled. But Elizabeth received it with joy: “Thus hath the Lord dealt with me… to take away my reproach” (Luke 1:25). Her faith embraced the promise.Biblical example: The woman with the issue of blood (Mark 5:25–34). She said, “If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.” She heard about Jesus (the word about Him), and that word carried healing. When she acted on it, she received her miracle.Romans 10:17 – “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”Faith is the channel through which the miracle in the word becomes manifest in your life. When God speaks a promise to you—whether through Scripture, a prophetic word, or an inward witness—grab hold of it. Nourish it. Speak it. Pray it. It contains your miracle.---4. From Word to TestimonyThe end of God’s word is always a testimony. John the Baptist’s birth became a notable testimony throughout the hill country of Judea (Luke 1:65–66). Why? Because God’s word performed what it promised.Biblical example: The centurion in Matthew 8:8 said, “Speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.” Jesus spoke the word, and the servant was healed that same hour. The word became a testimony. When you trust God’s word, your story becomes a witness. People will see and say, “What God has done for them, He can do for me.” Your testimony is not for your glory—it’s for God’s glory and others’ encouragement.Revelation 12:11 – “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony.”---Conclusion: Your Turn to ReceiveMaybe you’ve been praying for years. Maybe hope feels thin. But today, God is saying to you: “Fear not, your prayer is heard.” He has a word for your condition. That word might be a Scripture that leaps off the page to you. It might be a quiet assurance in your spirit. It might be a confirming word through a brother or sister.Don’t look at your natural circumstances. Look at God’s promise. His word is faithful. His word is powerful. His word is your miracle waiting to happen.Closing Prayer:Heavenly Father, we thank You that Your word is alive and powerful. For everyone in a long-standing condition, we ask for a fresh revelation of Your promise. Help us to receive Your word with faith, to hold onto it with patience, and to see it become a testimony. Just as You visited Zacharias and Elizabeth, visit us today by Your Spirit and by Your word. In Jesus’ name, Amen.---Final Encouragement:Go home today and find a Scripture that speaks to your situation. Write it down. Say it out loud. Pray it back to God. Trust that His word carries what it takes to end that condition. Receive His word—and receive your miracle.
